Foster-Miller has supported NASA programs since the 1970s. We have developed components and processes for Reusable Launch Vehicles (RLVs), satellites, engine and propulsion, and thermal protection. Our ability to innovate around a specific challenge consisting of several constraints has enabled success in numerous development applications. We have utilized company expertise in high-temperature structural materials, lightweight composites, resins and adhesives, and rapidly deployable structures to address the unique requirements of space flight.
For example, we have a unique combination of continuous reinforcing fiber performing and pre-ceramic polymer infusion that is extremely useful in high-temperature structural component applications such as aircraft and rocket engines. We have used specialty ceramic materials such as C/SiC, SiC/SiC and SiC/HfC have been used for integrated turbine blades with woven hubs, rotors, flywheels and other high-speed rotating machinery.
