Homeland Security

Foster-Miller is meeting the emerging needs of organizations responsible for homeland security.

Our Talon Robots was the only American robot successfully used for search and recovery at the World Trade Center in the aftermath of September 11.

Our FragBag, a highly portable bomb containment box, was used to safely transport "shoe bomber" Richard Reid's explosive-laden shoes.

Our portable ECAD (electrostatically charged aerosol decontamination) system disperses billions of tiny, electrostatically charged droplets that are attracted to surfaces in a room and contaminants in the air.

We are also developing CAPTURE filter panels that are intended to protect building occupants from internal release of chemical or biological warfare agents.  The panels will fit into room ceilings and will continuously filter the air, automatically filtering out any harmful agents before the air is recirculated to other rooms of a building.

In addition, we are working on protective fabrics for clothing and shelters that use enhanced activated carbon materials for capturing chemical warfare agents.
