Single crystal porous oxides are produced through unique technology reinforcing performs with excellent properties. Formulations have been made with materials such as sapphire, yttria-alumina-garnet (YAG) and rare earth oxides. Matrix materials have subsequently been infused from an oxide melt, pre-ceramic polymer, or converted from metal infusion (e.g., DIMOX(r) process).
This program has demonstrated the scientific, technical and commercial merit of our innovative infrared yttrium aluminum garnet (YAG) window material and cost-effective production process. The spectral transmittance range of our YAG window material was ~30 percent broader than the transmittance range of the existing window materials, which will cut down IR noise under elevated temperature window operation. Additionally, our window material will provide a higher thermal shock resistance and fracture toughness compared to existing materials. Our patented process involves short run times, can produce multiple components in one run, and can be automated. The resulting windows will cost substantially less than existing windows.
