| Fatigue is increasingly cited as a contributing factor in bus and rail transit accidents. Foster-Miller developed the Toolbox for Transit Operator Fatigue to help transit agency management deal with this problem. The Toolbox is a collection of resource materials that a transit agency can use in developing a program for minimizing the effects of human fatigue on their bus drivers, subway operators and locomotive engineers. The Federal Transit Administration used Foster-Miller's Toolbox in a series of eight seminars given around the US by the National Transit Institute to transit agencies. Responses from the seminars show an increased ability to address problems related to operator fatigue. |
