Steam Turbine Minimally Invasive Inspections

Through work with Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI), the US Navy, and utilities, Foster-Miller has engineered a set of unique tools that enable the user to gain access and visually inspect the critical steam path of steam turbines with minimal disassembly. The disassembling of a steam turbine to perform an inspection is an expensive, time-consuming, and risky process. Conventional inspection tools cannot deliver visual inspection capability to all the areas of the steam turbine necessary to fully evaluate the condition of the steam path. Our tools can.

Foster-Miller offers steam turbine inspection services to clients in the US Navy, commercial power generation industry, and the petrochemical industry.  Each client has unique machines with unique inspection challenges. We use a variety of tools and custom-engineered solutions to meet the inspection needs of clients to provide early detection of incipient problems and analysis of existing issues.

Through the use of Foster-Miller's inspection technology, experience, and steam turbine expertise, clients have saved hundreds of thousands of dollars in reduced downtime and reduction in unscheduled outages.
