Braided Biodegradable Fibers for Artificial Heart Valves

Foster-Miller has developed textile preforms as net-shape lattice for tissue growth for an artificial heart valve.  Geometry and mechanical properties can be tailored to match those of the natural device to produce a functional replacement.  Biodegradable fibers have been manufactured with Foster-Miller’s proprietary braiding process and covered with poly(lactic acid) using our electro-spinning process.
