Rotary Pumps for Permanent Assist, Cardiac Assist, and Minimally Invasive Surgery

Designed to reduce the impact on blood hemolysis and clotting, these magnetically levitated rotary pumps offer cardiac surgeons and their patients a significant alternative to pumps supported by conventional bearings.

The durable Inherently Controlled Bearing (ICB) pump features low power consumption and reliable performance.  In its current configuration, the ICB pump will serve as a left ventricular assist device.  Future plans call for its subsequent adaptation for use in cadiopulmonary bypass and moderate term bridge to definitive treatment.

The catheter pump features good performance in a tiny package, which makes this device ideal for cardiac minimally invasive surgery and cardiac assist.

These rotary pumps are developed in collaboration with The Cleveland Clinic Foundation and supported by grants from the National Institutes of Health.
