Fiber Optic Probes for Chemical Sensing

Foster-Miller has developed a suite of mid-infrared fiber optic probes for remote sampling of liquids and surfaces. In-house optical modeling tools developed for high refractive index materials have allowed us to optimize sensor design and performance for evanescent coupling and fabrication of monolithic diffractive optics.

The fiber optic probes developed for use as laboratory accessories have been licensed to Thermo Electron Corp., while Foster-Miller continues to use this technology in embedded process systems.
