Foster-Miller developed a proprietary food processing machine to make Gushers®, a liquid-filled fruit snack, for General Mills. The production concept and food processing technology of how to make a product with a chewy outer shell and soft liquid center was Foster-Miller's. After completing a proof-of-concept demonstration phase, we designed and built the production equipment at our facilities in Waltham, and then tested the operation of all mechanical and electrical components. The system was installed and integrated with the supporting equipment at a General Mills facility by Foster-Miller and General Mills engineers.
In this and related projects, Foster-Miller assumes responsibility for the entire design, hardware such as pick-and-place robots, programmable logic controllers (PLC), and fluid handling systems. We provide programming, electrical schematics, and other support components.
