Blood Pump Monitoring and Diagnostics

As a natural extension of our work in blood pump research, Foster-Miller is developing technology to monitor and diagnose the condition of implanted rotary pumps.  Using only external sensors and an integrated advanced package of diagnostic algorithms, this system is completely nonintrusive and readily applicable to many styles and types of pumps.  It will offer significant advantages to future recipients of implanted blood pumps. In addition to ensuring a patient's peace of mind, it will provide physicians with an automatic diagnosis of a pump's health, thereby preventing catastrophic failures that could cost the patient's life.

This system is being developed in collaboration with The Cleveland Clinic Foundation and supported by grants from the National Institutes of Health.
